RECOVERY GUIDE
Chicago makes it very hard to just “go back to the hotel and sit down.” Post-race at Navy Pier, hit AIRE Ancient Bathsfor hot–cold pools, saltwater baths, and steam that melts the sled-push out of your legs. It feels like a Roman spa dropped into downtown.
If you want full nerd-level recovery, spots like Restore Hyper Wellness and local sports therapy clinics in Streeterville and River North offer massage, myofascial work, cryo, compression, and infrared saunas. Then finish with a slow walk or stretch session along the Lake Michigan shoreline: big sky, fresh air, and a reminder you just raced HYROX Chicago.
LOCAL EATS
Chicago does food as hard as you do sled pushes.
If you’re going full “I earned this,” hit Giordano’s or Lou Malnati’s for deep-dish pizza (both do gluten-free bases so your coach can relax). For lighter race-fuel, Sweetgreen is your go-to for big salad bowls and clean carbs.
Vegos and plant-based athletes are covered at The Chicago Diner, a cult favourite that proves comfort food doesn’t need meat. And if you want the full local experience, grab a Chicago-style dog or Italian beef at Portillo’s and debrief the race with your crew like a true local.
