Guadalajara’s food culture is rich, hearty, and perfect for refueling.

• Clean Eats: _La Flaca_ – Bowls, smoothies, and health-conscious Mexican dishes.
• Local Flavour: _Karne Garibaldi_ – Famous for carne en su jugo, served fast, filling, and authentically local.
• Quick Bite: _Birriería las 9 Esquinas_ – Classic Jalisco birria tacos, a must-try post-race protein hit.

Athletes can recover with a mix of traditional and modern wellness.

• Spas: Local day spas and hotel wellness centers offer massages at a fraction of U.S./EU prices.
• Thermal Baths: A short trip outside the city, Lake Chapala has resorts and spa retreats perfect for recovery dips.
• Active Recovery: Scenic jogs or yoga sessions in Parque Metropolitano or Bosque Los Colomos.

Public transport in Guadalajara is affordable and improving, but it’s not always the most reliable compared to taxis or ride-share. Athletes will find Uber and official taxis to be the most convenient way to move around, especially when carrying gear or heading to the venue.

• Airport → City: Taxis and Uber are the most reliable (30–40 min). Shuttle buses are available but slower.
• City Transport: Metro light rail (cheap, ~€0.60) plus buses and ride-share options. For athletes, Uber is the easiest.
• Tips: Stick with official taxis or Uber for safety and speed.

• U.S., Canadian, EU, and UK citizens: No visa required for stays under 180 days.
• Other nationalities: Check Mexican government requirements; many can apply for an electronic authorization (SAE).
• A valid passport with at least 6 months’ validity is required.

Guadalajara is notably affordable compared to Mexico City or U.S. hubs.

• Accommodation: Mid-range hotels €60–90 per night, boutique stays €100+.
• Meals: Local taquerías €5–10, mid-range restaurants €15–25 per person.
• Transport: Metro rides under €1, taxis/ride-share €3–10 within the city.
• Athletes will find Guadalajara offers excellent value for both short stays and extended visits.
