Racecation Review

Gandhinagar, Gujarat offers a different experience from Mumbai or Delhi. The state is known for historic cities, impressive architecture, wildlife reserves and one of India's strongest food cultures. Combined with generally lower travel costs, it has the potential to become an excellent value racecation.

Many athletes may also choose to extend their trip to explore the Rann of Kutch, Gir National Park or the UNESCO-listed old city.

Public transport guide

Public Transport

Public transport in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar is reasonable, but not the most convenient option for this venue.

From Ahmedabad Airport (AMD): There is no direct metro connection. The easiest option is Uber, Ola or taxi, with the venue around 18 km away.

By metro: The Ahmedabad Metro connects the city with Gandhinagar. Sector 10A is the closest practical station to Helipad Exhibition Centre, around 2.5 to 3 km away, with an auto-rickshaw or cab needed for the final leg.

By bus: Local buses serve the venue area, with Udhyog Bhavan one of the closest stops.

Recommendation: Use the Metro if travelling from central Ahmedabad during the day. For the airport, early race starts or the simplest journey, Uber, Ola or taxi is generally recommended.

Cost Insights

Gujarat is expected to be one of the better-value HYROX race destinations globally. International flights into Ahmedabad are generally more affordable than Mumbai or Delhi, while domestic connections across India are extensive. Hotels offer excellent value across all categories, food costs are low by international standards, and local transport via taxis and ride-share services is inexpensive. Overall, Gujarat should appeal to athletes looking for a high-value international racecation without premium travel costs.
