Relay Briefing:

• HYROX Training Club: F45 Helsinki Töölö – Certified HYROX partner gym with functional training classes, SkiErgs, and sleds available. English-speaking staff welcome international drop-ins.
• CrossFit 10K – Popular CrossFit box ~15 minutes from venue with sleds, rowers, and open gym passes. Known for its competitive but welcoming community.
• Elixia Pasila – Full-service fitness club near Messukeskus with cardio machines, weightlifting area, and recovery facilities like sauna and stretching zones. Convenient for athletes wanting a one-stop option.

Helsinki’s food scene blends Nordic simplicity with modern innovation. Athletes will find clean, nutrient-dense dishes alongside hearty traditional meals; perfect for fuelling and recovery.

• Clean Eats: Yes Yes Yes – vegetarian and vegan-friendly plates, smoothie bowls, and quick service
• Local Flavour: Savotta – traditional Finnish cuisine like salmon soup and reindeer stew, ideal for post-race indulgence
• Quick Bite: Kotipizza – Finland’s largest pizza chain, fast and budget-friendly with high-carb options for race week

Helsinki shines as a recovery destination thanks to its iconic sauna culture. Post-race, athletes can head to Löyly, a modern seaside sauna complex offering hot/cold contrast therapy, or visit Allas Sea Pool for outdoor pools and Baltic dips.

For spa-style recovery, Flamingo Spa near the airport provides hydrotherapy, massages, and saunas under one roof. Athletes seeking cutting-edge treatments can find cryotherapy and compression therapy at specialised sports clinics in the city. Green recovery is also abundant—runners can cool down with light mobility in Central Park (Keskuspuisto), a massive urban forest just minutes from the city centre.

Helsinki’s public transport system (trams, metro, commuter trains) is efficient and athlete-friendly. The venue is directly connected via Pasila Station, just one stop from Central Helsinki. Athletes with gear can easily use trains or hop into a 10-minute taxi from the city centre. Tickets are best purchased through the HSL app; day passes offer value and eliminate queues.

• EU/EEA/Swiss nationals: No visa required
• US, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand citizens: Visa-free entry for up to 90 days within Schengen Area
• Other nationalities: Check Schengen visa requirements

Helsinki offers Scandinavian efficiency and charm, but with price levels on the higher side compared to many HYROX host cities. Expect modern infrastructure, high-quality food, and reliable public transport—but at a premium compared to Southern or Eastern Europe.

• Affordability Rating: €€€–€€€€
• Accommodation: €100–250 per night for mid-range hotels near the city centre or venue
• Dining: €15–25 for casual meals, €40–60+ for full-service restaurants
