Melbourne is Australia’s sport and culture capital and HYROX has been welcomed with huge energy. From CrossFit to F45 to boutique conditioning gyms, the city is obsessed with competition and community.

• F45 Port Melbourne – Packed with HYROX-ready circuits and sled push prep.
• CrossFit Richmond – One of Melbourne’s hardcore boxes, competitive and HYROX-friendly.
• Virgin Active Collins Street – Premium option with sled tracks and recovery facilities.

Melburnians take sport seriously but also embrace a strong social fitness culture - crews often train, race, and brunch together.

Melbourne’s food scene is legendary—and for HYROX athletes looking to refuel, it offers everything from health-conscious cafés to hearty pub fare. Near the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, South Wharf and Southbank are packed with options like Trader Cafe, known for its nourishing smoothie bowls and gluten-free treats, and Cumulus Inc., which balances seasonal ingredients with vibrant flavors perfect for recovery meals.

For those craving a quick, healthy bite, laneway gems like Degraves Street and Hardware Lane serve up fresh sandwiches, salads, and artisan coffee. Don’t miss trying a classic Aussie smashed avocado toast paired with a flat white—fuel that’s as Melbourne as it gets.

If you want to indulge post-race, Southbank’s riverside restaurants offer premium dining with views, featuring local seafood and Australian wines. Whatever your taste or diet, Melbourne’s culinary culture energizes athletes and invites you to savor every bite of your racecation.

After powering through HYROX Melbourne, treat your body and mind to the vibrant recovery scene of this world-class city. Melbourne’s compact CBD and nearby neighborhoods offer plenty of options to unwind and recharge. Take a gentle stroll along the Yarra River or through the artsy laneways of Hosier and Degraves Street—perfect for loosening tight muscles while soaking up the city’s dynamic energy.

For active recovery, join a local yoga class or find a wellness center offering massages and sports therapy to soothe your hardworking muscles. Melbourne’s health and fitness culture means quality recovery services are never far away.

Fuel your comeback with Melbourne’s legendary culinary delights. Near the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, cafés like Trader Cafe serve nutrient-packed smoothie bowls and gluten-free treats ideal for replenishing energy stores.

For a more substantial meal, Cumulus Inc. offers fresh, seasonal dishes rich in flavor and nutrients, designed to satisfy hungry athletes. Don’t miss a classic Aussie smashed avo on toast paired with a perfectly brewed flat white—a true local favorite that balances taste and nutrition. For those wanting to celebrate in style, riverside dining at Southbank provides premium seafood and Australian wines with unbeatable views.

Melbourne’s blend of culture, wellness, and culinary excellence makes it the ultimate destination to recover, celebrate, and prepare for your next HYROX challenge.

Melbourne’s trams are the largest network in the world and run free within the CBD. From Melbourne Airport (MEL), the SkyBus connects to Southern Cross Station in ~25 minutes. Myki cards cover trams, trains, and buses citywide.

Travel Visas for HYROX Australia

Most international athletes will need a visa to enter Australia, even for short stays to compete or spectate at HYROX events. The good news is that Australia offers streamlined electronic visa options for many nationalities. If you’re from countries like the UK, most of Europe, the US, Canada, or parts of Asia, you can typically apply online for either an eVisitor visa (subclass 651) or an Electronic Travel Authority (ETA, subclass 601). These visas allow stays of up to 3 months and are usually processed quickly — sometimes within 24–72 hours.

Make sure your passport is valid for the duration of your stay, and have your HYROX race confirmation and accommodation details ready in case you’re asked at the border. Athletes from countries not eligible for eVisitor or ETA will need to apply for a Visitor Visa (subclass 600), which may take longer and require additional documentation. You can check your eligibility and apply through the official Australian Department of Home Affairs. Plan ahead — Australia’s entry system is efficient, but it’s best to lock in your visa 2–4 weeks before your flight.

With HYROX hosted in Melbourne’s CBD, you’re right in the heart of the action—close to transport, accommodations, and iconic attractions. While staying in the CBD can be pricier than outlying suburbs, the convenience is unmatched.

Expect hotel rates ranging from AUD $200–300 per night for mid-range options, though budget-friendly hostels and apartment rentals exist nearby in areas like Southbank and Docklands.
