Search around Rho, Portello, Lotto, CityLife, and central Milan. Milan has plenty of gym options, but HYROX athletes should check equipment before booking a drop-in.

Milan is excellent for athlete-friendly food if you choose well: pasta, risotto, simple grilled proteins, cafés, bakeries, and high-quality casual dining are easy to find. Book ahead for groups, especially if staying central. Keep pre-race meals simple, then use post-race for the proper Milan food experience.

Milan is walkable in parts, but do not underestimate how much time you can spend on your feet. After racing, prioritise hydration, a proper meal, and light movement rather than packing the city too hard. A hotel with a gym, spa, or sauna is worth considering if recovery matters.

Rho Fiera is well connected by rail and metro, which makes Milan workable without a car. Staying central gives a better city experience, but staying near Rho makes race day easier. Athletes should check the first services of the day if racing early.

Italy is in the Schengen Area. Depending on nationality, travellers may enter visa-free or need a Schengen visa. The standard short-stay rule is up to 90 days in any 180-day period. ETIAS is expected to start in the last quarter of 2026 for visa-exempt travellers entering 30 European countries.

Milan is likely to be one of the more expensive race trips in this group. Hotels, restaurants, transport, and city-centre stays can add up quickly, especially if the event overlaps with other major city activity. The key value decision is whether to stay near Rho for race-day ease or central Milan for the better trip.
