Racecation Review

India’s capital is a colorful, chaotic feast for the senses. HYROX here means racing amid deep history and rich culture. Recover with a yoga session or spice-laden thali before exploring ancient forts and bustling bazaars. Ideal for athletes who crave intensity — both on and off the racecourse.

Hotels

Use the map to compare and book hotels near the HYROX Delhi venue — less travel, more focus on race day.

For Yashobhoomi / IICC in Dwarka, stay around Dwarka, Aerocity, or the airport side of Delhi. This is a venue where staying close matters because crossing Delhi before an early race wave is not ideal.

Recommended nearby hotels:

Premium

  • Vivanta New Delhi, Dwarka — Strong premium option in Dwarka. Practical for athletes wanting comfort while staying closer to Yashobhoomi than central Delhi.
  • Welcomhotel by ITC Hotels, Dwarka — Premium-leaning Dwarka option with good race-week practicality. Check route to Yashobhoomi before booking.

Intermediate

  • Expressway Hotel Yashobhoomi, Dwarka — Practical option listed close to Yashobhoomi Convention Center. Better as a short taxi/rideshare option.
  • Holiday Inn Express New Delhi International Airport T3 — Practical airport option if flight timing matters. Better for arrivals/departures than venue atmosphere.

Budget / Practical

  • Hotel HR Residency Close to Yashobhoomi — Budget/practical local option near the venue zone. Check reviews carefully before booking.
  • SSS Hotel Dwarka — Practical value option in the wider Dwarka area. Check transport route before booking.

Athlete booking advice:

For Delhi, book around the venue side first and the city experience second. A central Delhi hotel may look more appealing, but Dwarka/Aerocity will usually make race-day logistics far easier

Visa guide

Most international athletes travelling to India will need a visa or e-Visa before arrival. India offers e-Tourist Visas, including 30-day, 1-year and 5-year options, with stay limits depending on visa type and nationality. Athletes should apply through the official Indian e-Visa system and check permitted entry airports before travel.

Cost Insights

New Delhi is one of the most affordable cities on the HYROX circuit. Comfortable hotels range from $30–80 USD per night, with luxury options also competitively priced. Local meals can cost as little as $2–5, and even upscale restaurants rarely exceed $25. Transport is incredibly cheap via metro or auto-rickshaws. Entry to historical sites and attractions is low-cost. While the city requires some navigation savvy, New Delhi offers a high-impact cultural experience at a remarkably low cost—ideal for athletes traveling on a budget.

Public transport guide

Delhi is much better connected to the venue than many athletes may expect. Yashobhoomi Dwarka Sector 25 is on the Delhi Metro Airport Express Line, which connects New Delhi Railway Station, IGI Airport, and Yashobhoomi Dwarka Sector 25.

The IICC venue states that the Yashobhoomi metro station is within the Yashobhoomi premises and connected to the Airport Metro Express Line. It also notes access from UER II and a connection between Yashobhoomi and IGI Airport Terminal 3 via an underpass approach road.

For airport arrivals, Delhi Airport says the Airport Express Line runs between New Delhi Railway Station and Yashobhoomi Dwarka Sector 25, with direct access to Terminal 3 at Indira Gandhi International Airport.  DMRC also lists the New Delhi to Yashobhoomi Dwarka Sector 25 Airport Express route as 24.9 km, 7 stations, and around 19 minutes.

Best practical setup:

  • Best race-week base: Aerocity, Dwarka, or near Yashobhoomi for venue access.
  • Best city base: Connaught Place or central Delhi, but allow more travel time.
  • Airport to venue: Airport Express Line or taxi/rideshare.
  • Race day: Metro is viable if timings work, but taxi/rideshare may be easier with race gear.
  • Avoid: booking far across Delhi NCR without checking travel times to Yashobhoomi.

Local Climate

HYROX New Delhi takes place during peak monsoon season, meaning hot, humid, and rainy conditions. Daytime temperatures often reach 33–36°C (91–97°F) with high humidity, and sudden downpours are common. Air quality may temporarily improve with the rain, but the heat can still feel intense—especially for athletes not used to tropical summer climates. Be sure to stay hydrated, plan indoor recovery, and pack light, moisture-wicking gear for race day.

Local Eats

The area around the India International Convention and Expo Centre (IICC) offers a mix of traditional and modern dining with plenty of options for healthy and dietary-specific needs. Nearby, Sattvik at Select Citywalk serves wholesome vegetarian fare with gluten-free and vegan options, perfect for clean race fuel. For a taste of classic North Indian cuisine, Bukhara in the ITC Maurya hotel is legendary, known for its tandoori meats and robust flavors, with dishes that can be tailored for dietary preferences. Casual and budget-friendly, street-side eateries in Dwarka offer fresh chaats, lentil-based dals, and vegetable thalis — ideal for quick, nutritious meals on the go.

Don’t miss trying a traditional Thali platter—a balanced meal featuring rice, vegetables, lentils, bread, and yogurt—that provides a variety of flavors and nutrients to recharge after the race. New Delhi’s culinary scene is rich, diverse, and deeply satisfying, making it a perfect complement to your HYROX adventure.

Local Gyms

HYROX Delhi is listed at Yashobhoomi / IICC, New Delhi, so the most practical gym search areas are Dwarka, Aerocity, Vasant Kunj, Connaught Place, Gurgaon/Gurugram, and South Delhi, depending on where athletes stay. The venue is in the Dwarka side of Delhi, so a central Delhi gym may be good for training but less convenient for race day.

Useful gym options to check:

  • The Fit Tribe — Vasant Kunj
  •  A functional fitness/CrossFit-style option in South Delhi. The gym lists CrossFit personal coaching and gives its address as Kishangarh Village, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi.
  • Fitness First Connaught Place — Hamilton House
  •  Better for athletes staying central. The club lists a freestyle training zone, TRX, kettlebells, ViPR, group training, and strength/cardio facilities.
  • Search locally around Dwarka / Aerocity / Gurgaon
  •  For the lowest race-week friction, athletes should also search near their hotel for “functional fitness”, “CrossFit”, “strength and conditioning”, or “gym near Yashobhoomi”. Delhi NCR is large, so proximity matters more than brand name.

Practical race-week advice: choose your hotel first, then choose the gym. In Delhi, crossing the city for a workout can waste more energy than the session is worth.

Recovery Guide

After an intense race at the India International Convention and Expo Centre, athletes can find several excellent recovery options nearby to soothe muscles and recharge. The Ananda Spa, located in the nearby Hyatt Regency Delhi, offers a luxurious blend of traditional Indian wellness therapies including Ayurvedic massages, herbal wraps, and steam rooms. These treatments provide a holistic approach to recovery, combining ancient wisdom with modern comfort.

For a more accessible option, many hotels around Dwarka and central New Delhi feature professional massage and physiotherapy services tailored to athletes, focusing on muscle relaxation and injury prevention. The Calm Spa & Wellness Center in central Delhi is also popular for its restorative therapies and calming ambiance.

A unique recovery experience in New Delhi is the availability of guided yoga sessions that blend breathing exercises, stretching, and meditation—ideal for loosening tight muscles and enhancing mental focus post-race. Many studios around Connaught Place and South Delhi cater to visitors with drop-in classes.

Though New Delhi’s climate during the race season can be hot and humid, cooling treatments such as ice baths and hydrotherapy pools are increasingly offered in upscale wellness centers, providing vital relief from inflammation and fatigue.

With its mix of traditional healing practices and modern recovery methods, New Delhi offers athletes a chance to restore balance and energy, preparing them for the next challenge.
