Relay Briefing:

Rimini has a strong fitness and beach-body culture, fuelled by its seaside lifestyle and the influence of the annual RiminiWellness expo, one of Europe’s biggest fitness festivals. Training here is as much about performance as it is about lifestyle — expect a mix of hardcore CrossFitters, functional athletes, and locals who treat fitness as a social ritual.

• CrossFit Rimini (10 min drive) – Functional training hub with sleds, rowers, and SkiErgs for HYROX prep. Welcoming community, competitive energy, and plenty of open-gym times for drop-ins.
• Virgin Active Rimini (15 min drive) – Premium gym offering full-scale training plus recovery: pools, saunas, and wellness suites. Great for athletes who want a “train + recover” all-in-one experience.
• Functional Gym Rimini (12 min drive) – A smaller but athlete-focused space that’s drop-in friendly. Ideal for targeted HYROX-style sessions when you need quiet, focused training.
• Rimini Beach Outdoor Calisthenics Parks (5–10 min walk from most beach hotels) – Free-to-use outdoor gyms right on the sand, with pull-up rigs, dip bars, and bodyweight stations. Training here at sunrise or sunset is a cultural experience — part workout, part Mediterranean lifestyle.

Whether you’re chasing a serious session, premium recovery, or just want to move like a local by the sea, Rimini’s gym culture gives athletes plenty of options to stay sharp pre- or post-race.

Rimini’s food culture is all about carbs and seafood, making it a perfect athlete’s paradise.

• Clean-eats: Bio’s Kitchen – Organic and plant-forward, with plenty of vegan/vegetarian options
• Local flavour: La Marianna – Traditional Romagna pasta dishes and local seafood specialties
• Quick bite: Street-side piadina vendors – Stuffed flatbreads that are Rimini’s signature fast fuel

Post-race recovery in Rimini starts with its beaches, perfect for light walks, sea swims, or simply grounding in the sand. Beyond the shoreline, Rimini offers a mix of traditional Italian spa culture and modern sports recovery options:

• Rimini Terme (10 min drive from Expo) – A renowned seaside spa centre offering seawater hydrotherapy, saunas, massage, and wellness pools. Great for flushing out lactic acid and full-body relaxation.
• Riccione Terme (20 min drive) – Famous thermal baths with sulphur-rich waters, mud treatments, and hydrotherapy. A cultural recovery experience with a long tradition in Emilia-Romagna.
• Oxygen Rimini Wellness Spa (city centre) – Modern spa with saunas, Turkish baths, hydro-massage pools, and relaxation zones. Athlete-friendly with tailored treatments for muscle recovery.
• Cryo & Recovery Studio Rimini – Specialises in cryotherapy, compression boots, and modern recovery tools popular with endurance athletes.
• Yoga Garage Rimini – Offers gentle yoga, mobility, and restorative flows for post-race athletes looking to stretch and reset.
• Pilates Studio Rimini Centro – A calm space for alignment, mobility, and gentle conditioning after race day.

Together, these recovery hubs let athletes choose between natural sea therapy, traditional Italian spa culture, and cutting-edge sports science.

Rimini’s local buses connect the beachfront and the Expo Centre efficiently. Athletes with gear may prefer taxis for direct access. Train services also link Rimini to Bologna and other Italian cities, making regional travel easy. Bike rentals are a popular way to get around town for longer stays.

• EU/EEA & UK Athletes: Visa-free entry
• US, Canada, Australia, Japan, South Korea: Visa-free up to 90 days
• Others: Schengen visa required

Rimini is one of Italy’s best-known seaside destinations. During Rimini Wellness, hotels and restaurants get busier, but overall it remains more affordable than Milan, Rome, or Paris. Athletes will find a lively but manageable vibe in late May, just before peak summer crowds arrive.
